Sweet, currant fruit on the nose, with tobacco and cedar. Lighter medium bodied style underpinned by food-friendly acidity courtesy of the Barbera. Supple tannins and oak notes come through on the finish.
Equal amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc dominate, to create the Bordeaux profile for which this wine is known. For the first time, though, Shiraz as added for more complexity and it is probably responsible for the hint of aniseed. The wine is intense on the nose, with cherry and mulberry fruit together with cinnamon spice.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the 2010 Oro has a fresh, vibrant nose not dissimilar to a McLaren Vale with ebullient, mint-scented glossy black fruits. The palate is full-bodied and very rich with an almost honeyed texture.

The overall impression is gorgeous, with all the taut elegance to be expected from Cabernet Franc and the tart richness of Merlot. Barrel maturation took place in French oak, of which about 75 percent was new, giving the wine a very classic well balanced tannin structure.
